From the recording Overlander
I used to spend my summers as a kid with my grandparents and parents on Lake Okoboji in northwest Iowa. It was a magical place. It has changed a lot over the years (bigger houses, bigger boats, more expensive, more exclusive) as have I, (life).
Lyrics
Lake Life - Walsmith
Lake Life, Is a good life, But it’s not for everyone
Big Boats make choppy waters, we’re baking in the sun
Sometimes it’s a cool breeze
Sometimes it’s a Gail
Somedays it’s calm and tranquil
Somedays funnel clouds and hail
CH - You can ride it out
You can ride it in
Waiting for this lake life to begin.
You know it will never be, how it used to be
When all our sons and daughters, we are distant memories
Sometimes there are white capped waves
Sometimes it’s smooth as glass
Some days as blue as the wings of a jay
Somedays as green as grass
CH - You can ride it out
You can ride it in
Waiting for this lake life to begin
You might get burnt, you might get wet
Sometimes it’s frigid, sometimes it’s heaven sent
Lake Life, Is a good life, But it’s not for everyone
Big Boats make choppy waters, we’re baking in the sun
